A San Jacinto resident fatally shot an intruder during a Friday night break-in on Heron Way. After hearing gunfire while visiting a neighbor, the homeowner returned to find an armed suspect inside his residence. The homeowner armed himself and neutralized the intruder following a close-quarters exchange of fire. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. Initial evidence supports the homeowner’s claim of self-defense, and no arrests have been made.
