FAIRFIELD, CA — Fairfield police are investigating a deadly shooting that left one person dead and six others wounded Friday night inside a Spirit Halloween store at Solano Town Center. Officers said the scene remained active late Friday as detectives worked to identify the suspect or suspects responsible.
Police responded about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 to the shopping mall on Travis Boulevard near Interstate 80. Officials said seven people suffered gunshot wounds, and at least three of the surviving victims were taken to local hospitals in critical condition.
The victims had not been publicly identified by early Saturday, and police had not announced any arrests. Chief Dan Marshall said investigators were reviewing mall surveillance video and speaking with witnesses as they tried to determine whether the gunfire was centered only on the Halloween store or extended elsewhere inside the mall.
The shooting happened on the eve of Halloween, a busy shopping night at the seasonal store. Fairfield police asked anyone with information or video from the mall to contact investigators at 707-428-7600 or [email protected].
